নারায়ন গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় রচনাবলীর তৃতীয় খন্ডে আছে উপন্যাস সাগরিক, উপনিবেশ (তয় পর্ব) ও সূর্য সারথী। এছাড়া আছে গল্পগ্রন্থ 'ভোগবতী'। 'সাগরিক' ডায়রী স্টাইলে লেখা তার ভ্রমনকাহিনী নির্ভর উপন্যাস। সাগরের ধারের জীবন আর অতীত মিলেমিশে অন্যরকম এক স্মৃতি উপহার দেয় লেখকে, সাথে সাথে পাঠককেও। সাগরিকের ডায়রীর পাতায় পাতায় ছড়িয়ে আছে ঘটনা থেকে ঘটনার প্রবাহ, মানুষ থেকে মানুষের মনোরাজ্যের আরণ্য বৈচিত্র। সুধীশ, তপতী, ইরা, রামকুমার- এরা সবাই ডাইরীর রঙ্গম
ঞ্চ থেকে অকস্মাৎ বিদায় নিয়েছে। 'উপনিবেশ' এই খন্ডে চর ইসমাইলের শান্ত জীবনযাত্রা পরিলক্ষিত হয়। দশ বছর বয়স বেড়েছে বলরাম ভিষকরত্নের। চোখের দৃষ্টি ক্ষীন হয়েছে। মক্তোকে ফিরে পেয়েছেন। অবাঞ্ছিত সন্তান সহ ঝড়ের রাতে নিখোজ হওয়া মুক্তো ফিরে এসেছে আবার। 'সূর্যসারথি' উপন্যাসের পটভূমি দ্বিতীয় মহাযুদ্ধের কলকাতা। দ্বিতীয় মহাযুদ্ধের করাল ছায়া নামল শহরে। ভয়, আতংক আর অনিশ্চয়তার কালো হাত রুঢ় আঘাত হানল মানুষের মনে। মাটির তলা থেকে রাশি রাশি নাগিনীর মত মাথা তুলল স্বার্থপরতা, ভীরুতা ও দীনতা। অন্যদিকে ডুয়ার্সের চা বাগানে মাথা তুলল বিদ্রোহী শুদ্র শক্তি। নির্যাতিত শক্তি দৃঢ় মুষ্টিতে আঘাত হানল, রক্তে লাল হয়ে উঠল কালীঝোরার জল। সেই জলে সবার রক্তের সঙ্গে মিশে গেল রবার্টের রক্ত।

A strange notice appears in the morning paper of a perfectly ordinary small English village,"A murder is announced and will take place on Friday, October 29th, at Little Paddocks, at 6:30 p.m. Friends accept this, the only intimation." Miss Blacklock decides to take it in her stride and prepares herself to have guests that evening.Naturally, the villagers are intrigued by this notice, and several of them appear on the doorstep with awkward reasons but a definite interest. As the clock strikes 6:30, the lights go out and a door swings open, revealing a man with a blinding torch. In a heavily accented voice, the man demands they "Stick 'em up!" Most of the guests do so, believing it to be part of a game. The game ends when shots are fired into the room. The door slams shut, and panic takes hold: in short order, it's discovered that the fuses are blown, the gunman has been shot, and Ms. Blacklock's ear is bleeding, apparently from a bullet's near-miss.
